License Status Definitions
This page explains the meaning of each status outcome shown on the Authority’s Verify License interface. Status reflects the position of an entry at the time of verification.
Overview
Status outcomes are used to communicate the administrative position of an entry in the Authority’s internal licensing database. Where the Verify License tool provides a status, it should be interpreted using the definitions below.
Status definitions
Each status below is used in verification results. Where applicable, brief notes may also appear in the verification output.
Active
In forceThe entry is currently in force as recorded in the Authority’s database. Any applicable conditions may exist and may be communicated through official channels.
Conditionally Active
In force (limited)The entry remains in force but is subject to conditions, limitations, or specific permissions. Verify the scope directly with the license holder and official documentation.
Under Review
Administrative reviewThe entry is undergoing an administrative review, clarification, renewal processing, or data reconciliation. This status does not by itself confirm continuity of permissions.
Suspended
Temporarily inactiveThe entry is temporarily restricted or inactive in whole or part. Where suspension applies, affected activities may be paused until status changes through official process.
Revoked
Not in forceThe entry is no longer in force. A revoked status indicates that the license is not currently valid within the Authority’s database records.
Voluntarily Surrendered
Closed by holderThe entry has been surrendered by the license holder in accordance with applicable procedures. It is not currently in force unless re-issued under a separate process.
How to interpret a verification result
- Match the details: Confirm the license number and exact legal name align with the license holder’s official documents.
- Check status first: Do not rely on marketing claims; rely on the status shown in the verification result.
- For institutional checks: Where written confirmation is required, submit a confirmation request using the official channel.
Frequently asked questions
What does “Under Review” mean in practical terms?
It indicates the entry is in an administrative process (e.g., renewal processing, clarification, or data reconciliation). Where continuity of permissions is material, obtain confirmation from the license holder’s official documents and, if required, request written confirmation from the Authority.
Why might a status show “Conditionally Active”?
This may indicate limitations on scope, permissions, or conditions attached to the entry. Verification confirms the status label; scope confirmation should be obtained through official documentation and applicable notices.
If a status is “Suspended”, can the entity still operate?
A suspended entry indicates restrictions apply. Whether any activity may continue depends on the nature of the suspension and any official conditions communicated to the license holder.
