Complaints Handling Framework
This framework explains how complaints and concerns may be submitted and how they are handled administratively for record integrity, fair processing and timely communication. This process is not a court and does not provide legal advice.
Overview
The Authority receives complaints to support accurate records, address potential misuse of license claims, and help identify material issues that may require administrative follow-up under the licensing framework.
1) What can be submitted
A) Suitable complaint topics
- Misuse of the NLA name/crest/seal or false “licensed by” / “regulated by” claims
- Unverified license references, incorrect license numbers, or status misrepresentation
- Concerns relating to a license holder’s disclosures (e.g., ownership claims inconsistent with records)
- Operational concerns where a license holder’s public conduct appears inconsistent with stated obligations
B) Not suitable for this channel
- Private commercial disputes (fees, contract terms, refunds) unless linked to clear misrepresentation of license status
- Requests for compensation, damages, or legal rulings
- Anonymous allegations without verifiable evidence
2) Handling process (typical)
Complaints are handled using a structured approach designed for consistency, clarity and record traceability.
Intake & logging
Day 0–2Complaint is logged with a reference number; completeness check is performed.
Triage
Day 2–5We assess relevance to licensing records, verification, and misuse policy scope.
Evidence review
As neededWe review evidence and may request clarifications or additional documents.
Administrative follow-up
If applicableWhere relevant, the matter may be raised with the license holder/agent for response.
Outcome note
WrittenA written outcome note may be issued to the complainant for record purposes.
Closure

3) What to include
- Full name and contact email
- Name of the firm/person you are complaining about
- Website URL(s) and any relevant social links
- Date(s) and timeline of events
- Exact license number or claim being used (if any)
- Evidence: screenshots, documents, transaction references, communications
